Steve Palmisano, our EVP of Publication Services, leads an engaging and entertaining conversation about how far the medical publications profession has come over the past 20 years since ISMPP started, and how industry guidelines, such as ICMJE and GPP 2022, have been developed to ensure transparency, integrity, and trust in all that we do as publication professionals.

Lockwood Brings Thought Leadership to the Inaugural Meeting of the ISMPP Academy

The Inaugural meeting of the ISMPP Academy took place in Philadelphia from Sept 28-29, 2023.

The meeting theme was PREP (Practical Resources to Elevate Publications).

Our own head of publication services, Steve Palmisano, followed the keynote presentation by co-presenting a talk titled, “Progress to Practice: Navigating the Non-negotiables”.

The talk focused on the tremendous progress the medical publication profession has made over the past 20 years, including the development of several guidelines and codes of practice (see figure below) that shape much of the compliance-related ‘non-negotiables” we have in our profession today.

For this inaugural meeting, there were more than 170 attendees. With excellent presentations covering extending the reach with publication extenders, going beyond the traditional publication plans, and a major session that closed the meeting, “AI’s Transformative Impact on Medicla Communications”.

Following attendance at the meeting, The Lockwood Group summarized it’s meeting notes into the Top 10 Take-aways.

Lockwood and Random42 Celebrate First Year Anniversary of Uniting Industry-Leading Capabilities

This month, we are proudly celebrating our first anniversary welcoming Random42, a best-in-class medical animation studio, to the Lockwood Group. Over the past year, our affiliation has elevated the work and capabilities of both companies, combining Lockwood’s scientific-based medical, publications, and market access communications with Random42’s animated scientific storytelling.

In addition to over 140 amazing new team members, Random42 brings a range of innovative digital capabilities such as medical animation, virtual reality, augmented reality, and interactive microsites to the Lockwood Group, and as an extension—to our clients.

“We've had a tremendous year since Random42 joined us and are excited to celebrate our first year together. With the Random42 partnership, we’re now able to offer our clients a more integrated suite of services that satisfy a larger portion of our clients’ requests. Whether it’s an MOA, MOD, microsite, AR, VR, or a hologram for an upcoming conference, Random42 is the market leader, and we’re excited to leverage that expertise for our clients.” said Lockwood CEO and Founder, Matthew Schecter.

From the very beginning, Random42's shared commitment to quality and culture captivated us. As our growth continues, these values remain at the foundation of our strategy moving forward.

“Although it doesn’t feel like a year, the synergies between Random42 and Lockwood seem to be growing all the time – highlighting the huge potential for the group’s continued growth.” said Random42 CEO, Ben Ramsbottom. “Many positive steps have been made at Random42, with investments seen in people, IT infrastructure and technology, all supported by Matt and the team at Lockwood. These changes have been implemented to enhance the business, but not to change it, maintaining company culture, and our strong identity. I am so pleased that we have found a partner who understands our business and sees how we can change the medical communication landscape together.”

As we celebrate this significant milestone, we reflect on all that we’ve accomplished during our first year together and look forward to our continued collaboration and growth. We are excited to introduce clients to a partnership where science, creativity, and strategy come to life, and make a lasting impact to the pharmaceutical and biotech industries.
