Our Sustainability Pledge
Our Commitment
The Lockwood Group is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations through measurable, science-based actions where practicable. Our environmental strategy focuses on four priority areas: energy use, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, water, and waste.
We align our approach with internationally recognized standards and climate science to ensure our efforts are transparent, credible, and effective.
This commitment reflects our current objectives and priorities and does not create any contractual or legal obligation.

Science-Based Targets
We have established emissions reduction targets aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). In August 2025, our near-term targets were formally validated by SBTi, confirming alignment with current climate science.
Validation by the Science Based Targets initiative reflects alignment of our targets with published climate science criteria at the time of review and does not guarantee the achievement of any specific outcome.
Our targets are based on a 2023 baseline year and include:
- Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions:
Reduce absolute emissions by 63% by 2035
- Scope 3 emissions:
Reduce emissions intensity by 66.3% by 2035, measured relative to business growth metrics (e.g., revenue)
- Long-term goal:
Achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 across our operations
These targets are forward-looking and are based on current assumptions, methodologies, and business projections. Actual outcomes may differ due to changes in operations, market conditions, regulatory requirements, or data availability.
Scope and Definitions
- Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources
- Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased energy
- Scope 3: Indirect emissions across our value chain
Our net-zero ambition includes ongoing efforts to reduce emissions across all relevant scopes, with priority placed on direct reductions before the use of any residual mitigation measures.

Progress and Reporting
We aim to track and report our environmental performance annually, including:
- Greenhouse gas inventories
- Energy consumption
- Waste and water metrics
Our 2023 GHG inventory establishes the baseline against which progress is measured.

Continuous Improvement
As our organization evolves, we will continue to refine and expand our sustainability strategy. Our targets will be reviewed and updated and/or recalibrated where appropriate and as needed to reflect:
- Organizational growth and structural changes
- Expansion of business units (including Random42, APS, Nexus, IDEOlogy Health, Research To Practice, Total Health, and Stratis)
- Advances in climate science and regulatory expectations

Governance and Accountability
We are committed to maintaining transparency and accountability in our environmental efforts. Our sustainability initiatives are supported by internal oversight and periodic review to ensure alignment with our targets and external standards.
Oversight of sustainability initiatives is managed through appropriate internal governance structures and cross-functional review.
